How do I setup my e-mail program for Sierra Advantage? I am using Outlook.

The following are instructions for setting up e-mail using Outlook. The pictures provided are from Outlook 2000, using Windows 98, though the pictures and steps involved are similar for other versions of Outlook, and with other operating systems.

Note: You do not need a capital "P" when entering your username into the e-mail program.

1. Open Outlook if it is not already opened, and select Accounts... under the Tools menu.

2. Under the Mail tab, click Add then select Mail....

3. Enter your name in the Display name box, then click the Next > button.

4. Enter your username, whatever that may be, then "@directcon.net" in the E-mail address box.

5. Make sure "POP3" is selected next to the My incoming mail... text, then enter "pop.directcon.net" in the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server box, and "smtp.directcon.net" in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box.

Click the Next > button.

6. Enter your username in the Account name box.

Notice that Remember password is selected in the picture. Unselect this option if you want to make sure only those with a password will be able to access new e-mails, but be aware that if you unselect this option, you will have to enter your password every time you check for mail.

If you choose to keep Remember password selected, enter your password in the Password box.

You do not need to have the Log on using Secure... box selected.

Click the Next > button.

7. Most likely, you will have "Connect using my phone line" selected in this window. Keep it checked unless you connect to your e-mail via a LAN (Local Area Network) connection, or if you plan to establish your Internet connection manually.

8. Click the Finish button.

9. If the previous steps have been performed, you should see the following box, with pop.directcon.net under the Account column.

Click the Close button. You are ready to send and receive e-mail with Sierra Advantage.
