How do I setup my e-mail program for Sierra Advantage? I am using Netscape.
The following are instructions for setting up e-mail using Netscape.
The pictures provided are from Netscape Communicator 4.76, using Windows 98,
though the pictures and steps involved are similar for other versions of
Netscape, and with other operating systems.
| Note: You do not need a capital "P" when entering your username into the e-mail program. |
1. Open Netscape if it is not already opened, and select Preferences... under the Edit menu.
2. Under the Mail & Newsgroups Category, make sure Identity is
selected, then enter your name in the Your Name: box, and enter your
username@directcon.net (ex. johndoe@directcon.net) in the Email address: box.
3. Now make sure Mail Servers is selected under the Mail & Newsgroups Category,
and click the Add... button.
4. In the window that opens, make sure the General tab is selected,
then enter "pop.directcon.net" in the Server Name: box. Next, assure
POP3 Server is selected next to Server Type, then enter your
username in the User Name: box.
Notice that Remember password. is selected in the picture. Unselect
this option if you want to make sure only those with a password will be
able to access new e-mails, but be aware that if you unselect this option,
you will have to enter your password every time you check for mail.
Click the OK button.
5. Enter "smtp.directcon.net" in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: box,
then enter your username in the "Outgoing mail server user name:" box. Click the
OK button. You are now ready to send and receive e-mail with Netscape.
