How do I setup my e-mail program for Sierra Advantage? I am using Eudora Light.
The following are instructions for setting up e-mail using Eudora Light.
The pictures provided are from Eudora Light 3.0, using Windows 98,
though the pictures and steps involved are similar for other versions of
Eudora Light, and with other operating systems.
| Note: You do not need a capital "P" when entering your username into the e-mail program. |
1. Open Eudora Light if it is not already opened, and select
Options... under the Tools menu.
2. Make sure the Getting Started symbol is the category selected on the left side of the Options window.
Enter your username (ex.username@pop.directcon.net) in the POP account
box, your actual name (ex. John Smith) in the Real name box, and your
return address beginning with your username (ex. username@directcon.net) in
the Return address box.
Assure Winsock is selected under Connection Method.
3. Make sure the Personal Info symbol is the category selected on the left side of the Options window.
Enter your username in the Dialup username box.
4. Make sure the Hosts symbol is the category selected on the left side of the Options window.
Enter "smtp.directcon.net" in the SMTP box.
5. Make sure the Checking Mail symbol is the category selected on the left side of the Options window.
Notice that Save password is selected in the picture. Unselect
this option if you want to make sure only those with a password will be
able to access new e-mails, but be aware that if you unselect this option,
you will have to enter your password every time you check for mail.
Click the OK button. You are ready to send and receive e-mail with Sierra Advantage.
