Existing customers of our prior dial-up accelerator service will receive an additional
e-mail message shortly describing what you must do to utilize the new service. You will have until December 29th
to switch over your old accelerator client to the new one, and then the old one will be permanently disabled.
Free Trial: Customers who do not currently utilize a dial-up accelerator can download
our new accelerator client and try it out for free for a two-week period. Please specify that you want the trial
period when you sign up, or we will add it to your account.
How Does It Work?
The web pages and e-mail
that your computer requests from the Internet are first compressed or squeezed
down to a smaller size. When the requested items reach your computer, they
are decompressed or expanded back to their original size. The decompression
is accomplished by software you install on your computer.
How Much Does It Cost?
The service costs a small
amount to cover the necessary software licensing.
What Types of Web Pages Can Be Accelerated?
The service accelerates
web page text (including plain text, HTML, markup and javascript) and the
most common forms of graphics: Gif, animated Gif, and JPEG images and Flash, as well as e-mail downloading.
It does not accelerate other forms of Internet content, including: streaming
media, such as video and audio streams; secure pages, such as those used for
online banking and credit card forms; file downloads, including MP3 files
and executable programs.
Will the Service Work With Sierra Advantage's Web Privacy or Web Safe services?
Unfortunately,
the answer is no. You can not use any other proxy service with this service.
Does the Service Work When I Travel?
The service
works with all of Sierra Advantage's dial-up services; including our national
dial-up and roaming packages.
